Ranking My Favorite Stephen King Books

Stephen King Books

Stephen King is one of my favorite authors. I’ve had a ton of people ask my favorites, so I decided to make a list from favorite to least favorite. Since I still have a ton of his books to go this list will probably change a lot in the future, but here it is for now. Check it out.

  • 11/22/63
  • The Body
  • Stephen King: On Writing
  • Needful Things
  • The Shining
  • Doctor Sleep
  • IT
  • Mr. Mercedes
  • Finders Keepers
  • End of Watch
  • Salem’s Lot
  • The Green Mile
  • The Outsider
  • Gwendy’s Button Box
  • Carrie

It’s going to take a lot to beat 11/22/63 from the number one spot. I just absolutely adored it. Plus, it was the first Stephen King book I ever read. Carrie was ok, but it left me wanting more. I still have a ton of classic King books to read. Which should I start with?

  1. I also recommend The Stand. Suggest the original version, not the one with all the extras, if you have a choice. Also I found myself thinking a lot last year of The Dead Zone, though I haven’t read it in a LONG time.

  2. I will suggest The Long Walk. Originally written under pen name Richard Bachman. Its quite different and dark from his rest of the books. And The Dark Tower series though you may think its little slow. Its one of best fantasy series written by him.

  3. OOH! What a fun idea!! The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon would be at the top of my list. I hold such strong feelings about that one because it kick-started my deep dive into horror reading 🙂

  4. I think the Stand is also possibly his best from the ones not on your list. I have also have a soft spot for the Dark Tower series, Firestarter and Misery.
