We all have it. Those one or two books on our shelf that we want to read, but they intimidate us just a little. There could be lots of reasons why. The length, subject matter, or writing style could be what’s keeping us away. Well today, I’m going to share a few of the intimidating books on my tbr. Let’s jump into it.
Dune

Dune intimidates me for a number of reasons. It’s well known that sci-fi isn’t a genre I normally reach for, but I’ve been dipping my toes in the water this year. So many people that I trust have recommended this to me. But come on, it has it’s own dictionary. That makes me a little apprehensive. Plus, I’ve notice that the writing style is a little drier than I’m used to. I really want to give this a read, but I’m going to have to give myself a pep talk before reaching for it.
Jane Eyre

I listened to Jane Eyre on audiobook last year, but I would love to do a physical read. I found this copy so I grabbed it. But now every time I think of picking it up it intimidates me a little. It’s quite a lengthy book and I don’t know if I’ll be able to focus on it since I know the ending. I’m really bad at re-reading anyhow, but then when I factor in the length of this one I’m mildy overwhelmed
The way of kings

Obviously, The Way of Kings is huge. And the whole Stormlight Archives series is huge, but that’s not the only thing that intimidates me. The entire Cosmere intimidates me. I’ve done my research and I know all the places that I can start, but I want to choose the best place. I know I’m overthinking this, but I want to make sure I jump in at the place that’s going to help my Cosmere reading experience the most.
So those are a few of the intimidating books on my tbr. If you’ve read any of these leave me some words of encouragement in the comments. Especially, if you have any insight on the Cosmere. Plus, I’d love to know the books that are intimidating you right now!
I really want to read dune! And don’t feel intimidated by Jane Eyre, it’s one of my favourite books, I hope you give it a try!
