It’s the first day of winter, so it’s time to talk about some of my winter anticipated book releases. There are a lot of books that I’m interested in this quarter. Let’s get to it.
A History of Wild Places

I love Shea Ernshaw. She captures an atmosphere in her books that I find addictive. I was so excited to see that she was doing an adult book. Her other books have been gritty, but I feel like the YA genre limited her. So I’m excited to give this a read.
Release Date: December 7, 2021
Reckless Girls

I really loved The Wife Upstairs, so I was excited to see that Rachel Hawkins is releasing Reckless Girls. I’ll be honest that the setting isn’t as intriguing to me as in The Wife Upstairs, but I enjoyed it enough to give this one a try. I’m hoping it will be a January Book of the Month choice.
Release Date: January 4, 2022
The Red Palace

I love a good historical fiction and I love a good thriller. Plus, I’m on the hunt for books based on Asian culture. I was hoping The Poppy War would give me the political intrigue that I hoped for, but it fell a little short. I’ve heard great things about this one, so I hope to love it.
Release Date: January 25, 2022
Redwood and Wildfire

To be honest, I don’t have a clue what this is about, but for some reason I want it. The synopsis says that the main characters have a gift for hoodoo, and they move from the haunted swampland to a futuristic city to make a life for themselves. I don’t know a lot about it, but I think this might be one that I want to go into knowing as little as possible.
Release Date: February 1, 2022
Beautiful Little Fools

I loved The Great Gatsby, but it’s very much told from an outsider’s perspective. I always thought I’d love a bit more character depth to each of them. I’m hoping Beautiful Little Fools will give me that. It focuses on the women of The Great Gatsby in depth.
Release Date: February 1, 20222
House of Sky and Breath

Honestly, this is one of my most anticipated books of the year. I adored House of Earth and Blood. It took a long time to get hooked, but I was all in once it picked up. I think this could be one of my favorite Sarah J Maas series.

I’m looking forward to The Red Palace too, I haven’t read as many YA thrillers or mysteries this year but I’d love to catch up on them in 2022! 🤩
I hope you enjoy! New Year’s reading plans are always fun!
