Spooky Ghost Stories

What’s more classic than a good ghost story? Personally, I think they’re absolutely necessary, especially around Halloween. So today I wanted to share some of my favorite spooky ghost stories to help you get into that Halloween spirit.

Little Girls

Little Girls follows Laurie as she returns to her childhood home after her estranged father passed away. She quickly realizes that moving her family into the house while she tries to tie up all the remaining loose ends might have been a mistake. There aren’t a lot of good memories in this house and those all come rushing back to her when she discovers that her daughter’s new friend looks exactly like her childhood neighbor. Her childhood neighbor who died when they were just kids. The longer Laurie lives in this home more of the terrible past comes back to literally haunt her.

The Woman in Black

The Woman in Black is probably my favorite classic ghost story to date. London solicitor, Arthur Kipps, is sent to Eel Marsh House to settle the estate of a client. He’s terriby unaware of the dark history that surrounds the mansion. He finds himself plagued by odd sounds at night and a rocking chair that just won’t stay still. But scariest of all is the Woman in Black that appears at the edge of the marsh.

A House with Good Bones

A House with Good Bones is modern take on a classic ghost story with a unique twist. When Sam Montgomery returns home to visit her mother, she notices that something about her seems off. Her normally warm and vibrant home is now cold and sterile. And she jumps at every noise. There are vultures that circle the house, and she finds a jar of teeth hidden out behind the picture-perfect roses. Sam tries to unearth the secrets that have changed her mother, but some things might be better left buried.

Christine

Arnold Cunningham is a normal teenager living in a suburban town. One afternoon after work he sees a red and white 1958 Plymouth Fury for sale and he knows that it’s meant to be his. Against his parents, and friends, wishes he sets out to restoring it. But suddenly it seems like the car might be restoring him as well. Suddenly, his skin is a little clearer, he walks a little taller, and he picks up an anger problem that is very unlike him. So, Dennis Guilder sets out to find out more about the car named Christine.

So those are some of my favorite spooky ghost stories. But I’m always looking for more so tell me your favorites below.
