A Halloween Haul

Did I need more spooky books? Nope. Did I impulse buy these because of a Youtube video? Yep. ‘Tis the season for all things spooky. Let’s dive into my small Halloween haul.

The Historian

Halloween Haul-The Historian

I can’t believe that I’ve never heard of The Historian until now. A young girl finds out that she has a connection to Vlad the Impaler, and she sets off the research the dark secrets hidden in her family tree. It’s part historical fiction, dark academia, and vampire story. I’m absolutely convinced that I will love this.

I, Dracula

Halloween Haul-I, Dracula

I, Dracula is a Dracula retelling written in his own words. It is a fictional retelling of Vald the Impaler’s life that has some historical merit to it, if I’m not mistaken. Supposedly, it gives us a slightly sympathetic backstory of the iconic Dracula character. This book is an intensely popular independent novel, and I can’t wait to see what’s in store.

So that’s my Halloween haul. It was a small haul and I’m proud of myself for not going too over the top. But I’m still really excited to give these vampire books a read. Honestly, I’m still chasing the high of reading Dracula for the first time.

  1. I was just thinking about The Historian the other day! I read it ages ago, during the Da Vinci Code craze, to which this was bafflingly compared to just because it was a historical mystery/thriller. It’s considerably better than The Da Vinci Code, though. I want to re-read it one of these days.

      1. Funny thing but a short while after this interaction another friend mentioned The Historian. I think the universe is telling me to get on that re-read.
