Thankful and Blessed

Thankful

Happy Thanksgiving to my United States folks! What are you thankful for today?

It’s absolutely no secret that 2024 has not went how I expected. I found out that I was pregnant early in the year, and I had big plans. We planned to remodel the nursery and our bedroom to get ready for our new addition. And I planned to go shopping and do all the fun pregnancy things with my also pregnant best friend and sister-in-law.

But my first trimester was hard. I struggled with health issues and sickness that would knock me off my feet most days. And then to top everything off right before we started remodeling my husband’s truck quit and we had to replace the motor so that was just an extra headache on top of an already difficult time. We had to push the remodel off to a later time. But little did I know that was going to be the least of my concern. The year just got harder.

We started remodeling in July, and everything went well for the most part. But on August 10, we were getting ready to go pick out our flooring when I had an unfortunate accident that caused me to break my left leg and my right ankle. Keep in mind I was five months pregnant. In a second, my plans for everything changed. I ended up on bed rest for several months and let me tell you that was a humbling experience. But I’m so, so thankful for the friends and family that go me through it. I couldn’t have done it without them.

I’m not telling you all of this to get sympathy. I’m telling you all of this so that you know just where I’m coming from this Thanksgiving. Today I am thankful for my health, happiness, and the strength that God gave me to get through one of the hardest times of my life. As I sit down to eat my meal, I will remember just how truly blessed that I am. My health is restored and we’re expecting our little girl any day now. The remodeling and hectic scrambling to throw together a nursery has come to an end.

Now we’re entering into one of my favorite times of the year. I want to rest and reflect on all of the lessons that I learned this year and the blessings that came from such a hard time. I also want to thank you guys for sticking with me. I’ve felt so much love and support from the bookish community. I hope you guys have an awesome Thanksgiving and holiday season. And if you’re going through a tough time just know that my thoughts and prayers are with you and things will get better. I know it’s hard to remember that in the middle of a storm, but eventually all storms end.
