Happy second day of summer! Let’s talk about my summer 2026 anticipated book releases. And I want you to tell me a few of yours in the comments. I’m in a book rut and I need something new.
The Unicorn Hunters
Release Date: June 2
I loved The Winternight Trilogy by Katherine Arden, and I have high hopes for The Unicorn Hunters. I love how she mixes history and fantasy in such a magical way. Now I don’t know much about French history, but I am interested in exploring it.
Songs of the Dead
Release Date: June 16
Generally, I’m going to buy anything Brandon Sanderson writes. I might not read it right away, but I have to have it on my shelf. Songs of the Dead slipped by me though. I haven’t really kept up with new releases this year and I just learned about it the other day. From what I’ve read of the synopsis it’s an urban fantasy in a world where music is power. I’m interested to see where it goes.
The Unknown
Release Date: August 4
Lastly, we have a repeat author. Riley Sager has been on my summer anticipated list from the beginning. However, he let me down last year. I did not love With a Vengeance at all. But The Unknown seems a bit more up my alley. It’s set on a mysterious island where several spiritual mediums went missing. It sounds a little witchy, a little murder mystery, and a little paranormal. I’m hoping this will redeem my love for Sager and continue on my tradition of a spooky summer read.
