One of my most anticipated books of the year was Empire of the Vampire by Jay Kristoff. Back in January he posted on Instagram about a Waterstones special edition that was available the day after my birthday. So it was meant to be. I was so happy to be able to order it before it sold out. It’s finally in, so let’s unbox it.
Cover

This is the standard UK edition, but I think it’s stunning. I like the US edition also (check it out here), but this one is just has something a little extra that I love.
Signed Edition

I was so excited to be able to get a signed edition. Usually, they all sell out before I can order, but I was lucky this time. This release actually crashed Waterstones’ website and I placed my order right before that happened.
Black Sprayed Edges

The thing that sold me the most was the black sprayed edges. They are STUNNING. This is easily one of the prettiest books I own.
Embossed Hardcover

I didn’t realize the cover was embossed until I took off the dust jacket. I gasped when I saw it. This is the De Leon family seal and it’s such a perfect touch.
I’m so happy to have the Waterstones edition of Empire of the Vampire. I’m almost afraid to read from it. I don’t want to mess it up. But I did start it, and it has the potential to be a favorite of the year. I’ve loved it so far.
OOOOH! This is so pretty!!!
