The Nightmare Before Dinner Recipe Review

This is a throw back to my very first days of blogging. I used to do recipe reviews so that I would actually use the cookbooks that I bought. So today I decided to do a Halloween themed recipe review.

I bought The Nightmare Before Dinner a while back and I’m just now getting around to using it. It has a ton of great recipes that I want to try. Tonight I decided to break out of my routine and try The Evil Dead Shrimp. So let’s get into my thoughts.

The Ingredients

The ingredients in this recipe was supper easy to come by. I honestly had everything but the shrimp on hand. I love a recipe that uses simple, but tasty ingredients. Because let’s be honest. I don’t have a ton of time to prep ingredients on a week night. Literally, the longest part of this entire recipe was roasting the red pepper, and you could even do store bought.

The Cooking Process

This was a quick meal. It came together in about 10 minutes. You start by sautéing your vegetables and then you build your sauce from there.

The Taste

All in all, this turned out pretty good. It was pretty acidic so I added just a bit more honey to mine. My husband isn’t really fan of acidic things. I don’t really know if I’ll make this again. I’ve really gotten to where I don’t enjoy shrimp, so that’s on me not the recipe. It’s such a strange thing because I remember adoring shrimp so I still try shrimp things. But ultimately I liked this recipe. It was good, but I didn’t love it.

There are so many other recipes The Nightmare Before Dinner that I want to try. Even if I didn’t love this one I’m sure there’s something there that I will love. There’s a recipe for a nice steak that’s calling my name so I’ll definitely give it a try.
