I have to admit that I’m getting a little burnt out on keeping a reading journal. But I’ve already started for the year, and I want to try to be consistent. This year has been busy so I’m just not finding as much time to sit down and journal. So, for my July 2022 reading journal I was like I just want to do something easy. Plus, I’ve recently downloaded Procreate so I’ve been playing around with it. This is what I came up with, and honestly, I’m shocked by how well I like it. I literally did this in about an hour.

Around 2010 or so paint splatter was everything. I had several paint splattered jeans and shirts, and I never really got over that trend. I still love the way paint splatter looks. So, when I found the paint splatter brush on Procreate, I knew I was going to have some fun with it. Basically, I just created a black background and splattered it white. Then I used the white script brush to write July on my cover page. It can’t get much easier than that.

When I was cutting out my background, I noticed there was a lot of scrap paper left over, so I used that to make my headings.
For the read and wrap up page I knew I wouldn’t want to cut and glue tiny sheets of paper every time I read a book, so I just blocked out several spots to fill in the info.

Overall, I’m super happy with the way this turned out. I love the contrast between black and white, and it made me just a little bit nostalgic.
OOOH! I love this one!!! What a neat idea!
