I saw this tag over at Biblio Nerd Reflections and I thought it sounded so fun. So let’s get to it.
The Firsts of 2023 Tag – Biblio Nerd Reflections
First book read this year

You Are a Badass: How to Stop Doubting Your Greatness and Start Living and Awesome Life was my first book of 2023. I went through a motivational book phase at the beginning of the year. This one was good but not great.
First book reviewed

I started my reviews off strong with Shadows of Self this year. It’s still one of my favorite books that I’ve read.
First book by a debut author

The Spite House was my first book by a debut author and the book that started my haunted house phase.
First book by a new-to-me author

I’ve never read anything by S.T. Gibson and I started off with A Dowry of Blood. I had such high hopes but I ultimately didn’t love this one.
First book that slayed me

I’m still not emotionally prepared to talk about The Lost Metal. I loved this book but it crushed my soul.
First book that I wished I could get back the time I spent reading it

The Year of the Witching really didn’t do it for me. I was hoping for creepy, oppressive woods but I got a half-baked love story instead.
So that’s my firsts of 2023. If you want to play along I tag you!

Yay! I’m so glad you decided to do the tag. Thanks for linking back to make sure I saw your answers. I’ve seen so many great things about Sanderson’s books, but I just haven’t had a chance to start any of the series. It is a daunting prospect. lol. Maybe 2024 will be the year? If so, where should I start?
I felt the same way before starting Sanderson’s books! They’re definitely intimidating. I started with Mistborn Era 1.
