Reading to a Healthier Me Check In

health journey

Back in July I decided to set myself a few goals to improve my health, and it’s time to check in. Let’s get to it.

My Goals

Eat Healthier. I’ve done pretty good at this goal minus a few cheat days. It’s been really easy getting extra fruits and veggies into my diet right now because of all the fresh produce coming in. I hope I can continue that into the winter. And I’ve started taking Bloom’s green supplement to fill in the gaps on days that I don’t eat as well.

Walk More. In June I average 2,858 steps. When I set this goal, I wanted to double that in July. Unfortunately, I didn’t do that, but I did walk more. I had an average of 3.082 steps a day in July. It was my intention to walk every evening when I got home, and I didn’t stick to that like I should have. With my garden coming in and all of the stuff to can I just didn’t have as much time, but the garden kept me active in the evenings as well.

Get Better Sleep. I have definitely slept better this month. We ended up buying a new bed. We went from a queen size to a king-sized memory foam mattress. And I’m not lying when I say it was the best purchase we’ve ever made.

What I Read

I haven’t read much. I’ve been in a slump, and I haven’t even wanted to listen to audiobooks. I’ve enjoyed just enjoying the sounds of nature when I’m in the garden. It gives me a lot of time to think.

But I’m finally coming out of that slump, and I’ve been listening to some of my favorite books from my childhood. They have been fun to revisit.

So that’s my monthly update. Thanks for coming on this health journey with me.

  1. Best of luck with your health journey. I can’t wait for some cooler temps to be able to enjoy my garden more. Right now it’s so hot here that it’s just been a struggle to keep everything alive. I do enjoy the sounds of nature every morning while I’m out watering, though.
