I normally do a gift guide in December, but I wanted to share some bookish advent calendars a little early. They’re a great gift for any book lover in your life or even as a little present for yourself. So here are a few that have caught my attention this year.
Keep in mind I haven’t opened them because I don’t want to spoil the surprise. These are just some that I found that sound really interesting to me.
OwlCrate Timeless Tales 2023 Advent Calendar

OwlCrate is known for their advent calendars. For their 2023 theme is Timeless Tales. It says that it’s inspired by fairytales, folklore, classics, and retellings. It is geared toward fans of Anne of Green Gables and Little Women, recent well-loved stories such as Fourth Wing and Spinning Silver, as well as faerie folklore and fairytales. This is a twelve-day advent calendar that just focuses on bookish items. But judging from past OwlCrate experience they usually include a lot of unique items.
LitJoy Crate Mini Classic Literature Book Ornaments Advent Calendar

Litjoy Crate’s advent calendar really interested me this year. They are doing a 25-day collection of mini book ornaments to hang on your Christmas tree. The preview pictures look gorgeous. It includes classics such as The Call of the Wild, Grimms’ Fairy Tales, Little Women, Peter Pan, Pride and Prejudice, The Picture of Dorian Gray, Twenty Thousand Leagues under the Sea, and The Wizard of Oz. This would be a great gift for any book lover.
Wildwood Reads Five Day Advent Calendar

Next, we have an advent calendar that is close to my heart. I decided to an include a five-day book advent calendar on my Pangobooks shop. These were so fun to create. I’ve decided to do three different genre options: mystery/thriller, historical fiction, and general fiction. Each one includes five brand new books and a bookmark all wrapped up and ready to go under your tree.
Oh, and if you’ve never visited Pangobook I totally recommend it. It’s a great place to shop for Christmas gifts. Use code WildwoodReads for $5.00 off your first order.
Build Your Own Advent Calendar
Lastly, if you’re wanting to gift a book lover in your life you can create an advent calendar of your own. You’ll just need wrapping paper, tape, ribbon, and books that your book lover will enjoy. Just wrap them up, number them, and stick it under the Christmas tree for a season full of bookish fun.
So those are a few bookish advent calendars to kick off the Christmas season. And if none of these work for you just head over to Etsy. There are a ton of options from hundreds of small businesses.
