Guess who forgot that November starts today. Seriously, my brain just refuses to process the fact that another month of 2024 has ended. Anyhow, it’s time for my November 2024 TBR. And if I’m being completely honest, I’m not ready for spooky season to be over yet so welcome to Halloween the Sequel.
Empire of the Damned

Synopsis:
From holy cup comes holy light;
The faithful hands sets world aright.
And in the Seven Martyrs’ sight,
Mere man shall end this endless night. Gabriel de León has saved the Holy Grail from death, but his chance to end the endless night is lost. Drawn into an uneasy alliance with the mysterious vampire Liathe, Gabriel must now deliver the Grail to ancients of the Blood Esani and learn the truth of how Daysdeath might be finally undone. But the Last Silversaint faces peril, within and without. Pursued by terrors of the Blood Voss, drawn into warfare between the Blood Dyvok and duskdancers of the frozen Highlands, and ravaged by his own rising bloodlust, Gabriel may not survive to see the Grail learn her truth.And that truth may be too awful for any to imagine.
I really want to read The Empire of the Damned while I’m still in a vampire mood. I started this last year and put it down for some reason, but I was really enjoying it. It’s at the top of my list this month if I can get my hands on it. It’s currently buried in my bookroom which is being used for storage while we remodel. Wish me luck, lol.
The Women in White

Synopsis:
The Woman in White opens with Walter Hartright’s eerie encounter with a strange, solitary woman on a moonlit London road. Engaged as a drawing master to the beautiful Laura Fairlie, Walter becomes embroiled in the sinister intrigues of Sir Percival Glyde and his ‘charming’ friend Count Fosco, who has a taste for white mice, vanilla bonbons and poison. Pursuing questions of identity and insanity along the corridors of English country mansions and the madhouse, this is the first and most influential of the Victorian genre that combined Gothic horror with psychological realism.
I’ve been loving Victorian Gothics, and this is one of the most highly recommended books on everyone’s list. I feel like I’m missing out because I keep putting this one off.
The Monk

Synopsis:
The Monk (1796) is a sensational story of temptation and depravity, a masterpiece of Gothic fiction and the first horror novel in English literature. The respected monk Ambrosio, the Abbot of a Capuchin monastery in Madrid, is overwhelmed with desire for a young girl; once having abandoned his monastic vows he begins a terrible descent into immorality and violence.
I’m going to be honest, I don’t know much about The Monk, but I’ve heard it’s great in a horrifying creepy way. So, I’m going to give it a shot.
So that’s my November 2024 tbr. What are you reading this month?
