Recipe Taste Test: Mischief Night Pasta

It’s been a minute since I’ve done a recipe taste test, and I’ve missed it. Now I’ve done a taste test from this cookbook before, but this recipe is a tradition in my house, and I wanted to share it with you. So, let’s make the Mischief Night Pasta from The Unofficial Hocus Pocus Cookbook.

Mischief Night is the night before Halloween so every year we celebrate with this pasta and it’s always a hit. Plus, it’s super easy to make so that’s a bonus for a busy weeknight.

Mischief Night Pasta

To start this recipe, you need to brown two pounds of breakfast sausage. I use the hot kind, but you could use mild as well.

After you brown your sausage remove it from the pan and add a stick of butter. Be sure to scrape all of the browned bits off of the bottom because that’s full of flavor. Then you add garlic and heavy cream to the butter and bring it to a simmer. Then whisk your cheese in a little at a time. Just a side note, I add a little paprika to my sauce because I add paprika to almost everything I make.

While your sauce simmers, steam your broccoli.

After your broccoli is steamed, add it and the browned sausage to your sauce.

Lastly, add your cooked noodles. The recipe has a homemade pasta recipe, but I just use angel hair. It’s what Cj prefers.

So that’s how you make Mischief Night pasta. I have to say I really do like this cookbook and it’s probably one of my most used ones.
