A Bookish Trip to Huntsville, Alabama

Cj and I made a bookish trip to Huntsville this weekend to celebrate my birthday and our wedding anniversary. I’ve been to Huntsville once before, but it had been years, so we decided to go somewhere new. It turned out to be a very book-oriented trip. And I’m perfectly fine with that. My wallet on the other hand was not, hahaha.

Barnes and Noble

The first place we stopped was a Barnes and Noble. It was convenient to where we were and being new parents, we needed a caffeine fix from the Starbucks inside. Let me tell you the new pistachio latte is amazing.

I was so excited to see that this Barnes and Noble location had an awesome fantasy section. I was able to get every book that I had on my tbr list plus a few more I didn’t need.

Snail on the Wall Bookstore

The next place we visited was a cute independent bookstore called The Snail on the Wall. I’ve followed this shop on Instagram for a while, so it was fun to actually stop in for a visit.

They had a great selection of books. One book that I left with has been on my tbr forever so I’m glad to finally have a copy in hand. The other book I bought was one that I’ve heard great things about, and I almost bought it at Barnes and Noble. However, when I saw it here, I knew it was the universe telling me to buy it. Or at least that’s what I’m going with.

The Modern Curry

After we worked up an appetite from shopping, we stopped at a fun restaurant called The Modern Curry. They had a lunch buffet, so I loved tasting all of the different dishes. I think my personal favorite was the vegetable kurma . And I could drink my weight in their mango lassi.

U.S. Space and Rocket Center

After we had lunch, we went to Sam’s Club to get some necessities and then we headed home. On the way home, we did swing by the U.S. Space & Rocket Center. We didn’t tour it because I was exhausted, but it was still cool to see it. I’ve been once before, and it was a ton of fun. I hope to go back in the future when our daughter is big enough.

Unclaimed Baggage

And the last place we visited was Unclaimed Baggage in Scottsboro. It’s literally a store that sells stuff that people leave behind at the airport. It’s a pretty popular tourist destination in this part of Alabama. I’m glad we stopped. It was an experience, but I’m not sure if I will visit it again. It was a little expensive to literally just be used and lost items.

So that was our bookish trip to Huntsville, Alabama. We had a ton of fun and I can’t wait to go back. And keep your eyes out because I have a massive book haul coming later this week. I got a lot of fun things, and I can’t wait to show you guys.

      1. Oh, wow that’s very specific. And I’m the same. I burned myself out on romance in high school. I read some really, really cheesy ones so now I associate all of them with those lol.

      2. Yeah. I tried looking up more but these places are in such odd places that it’s tough to justify going that distance to buy books on an ongoing basis. All the cheesy romance haha! I was forced to read The Love Hypothesis for a grad school course and I hated it so much lol.

  1. Weird question but isn’t it só strange to go back to doing stuff you did before having a baby? I remember going out and doing different, non-baby related things after my first was born and it was such a weird feeling lol like I’m still the same person with the same hobbies and interests but I’m now someone’s mother. I hope you’re doing well postpartum, being a first time mom is not easy. Keep doing things that you love and taking care of yourself, you deserve it. ❤️

    1. Yes! It is so strange. My mother watched her while we were gone and when we got in the car my husband and I didn’t know what to talk about lol. And thank you so much!
