I Bought Too Many Books (A Haul)

I bought too many books. Wind and Truth finally pulled me out of my reading slump (I hope) and now I want to read all of the things. So, I bought a few things when we went to Huntsville. And then I bought a few things from Pangobooks. And thennnnnn I bought like one thing from Amazon. So, let’s talk about books.

Moon of the Crusted Snow

Moon of the Crusted Snow immediately caught my attention. It’s a dystopian story set in the Anishinaabe community. When things go dark the community comes together to try to preserve the traditions of their homeland. And honestly, that sounds like an amazing story to me. It has to be to make me interested in a dystopian novel, hahaha. I burned myself out with them during the rise of Hunger Games and Divergent.

Do It Afraid

Fun fact about me. I have anxiety. If you know me in person that’s absolutely not a shock. And being a first-time mom has increased that anxiety, which is a common thing. When I saw Do It Afraid at Barnes and Noble I decided to give it a shot. Journaling and devotions help me a ton so I’m hoping this will be exactly what I need in this season.

The Grace of Kings

The Grace of Kings follows two men that rebel against their tyrannical emperor and then become revivals that rule over two separate factions. I’m here for epic fantasy with a lot of political machinations mixed it. I’ve heard a lot of great things about this book, and I hope it lives up to the hype.

The Reformatory

The Reformatory is a historical fiction and horror novel wrapped all up in one. In 1950 Robbie Stephens Jr is sent to six months at the Gracetown School for Boys where he is haunted by haints of former students and the horrors of human cruelty. I’ve wanted to read this for quite a while. I expect it to be a heavy read.

Jade City

Jade City was an impulse purchase. I had picked it up at Barnes and Noble and briefly considered it, but then we went to The Snail on the Wall, and it was the first book I noticed. I decided the universe wanted me to read this, so I got it. For years the Green Bone warriors have used jade to help them protect the kingdom. Now that the war is over jade is available on the market and a new drug has allowed anyone to weild jade causing chaos and corruption to explode in the capital city.

Kings of the Wyld

Kings of the Wyld promises to be a fun epic adventure that follows a band of mercenaries that are a little past their prime. This sounds so fun to me. Sometimes epic fantasy can be a little heavy, so I’m interested to read a story with a humorous twist.

Empire of Silence

I don’t normally read sci-fi, so Empire of Silence is a little bit out of my comfort zone. But it’s been compared to some of my favorite fantasy series, and it convinced me to give it a try. It follows Hadrian Marlowe who is known as a hero and a monster, but in realty he is neither of these things. This is the story of his life and legacy.

She Reads Truth Bible

The last thing I bought was a She Reads Truth Bible. I have a lot of bibles. I didn’t need another one. But most of my bibles were gifts from people I love, so I wanted to buy one that has no sentimental attachment to carry back and forth to church. I’ve used this one once but so far, I’m happy with it. I plan to do an unboxing/review sometime in February once I’m a little more familiar with the layout.

So, I bought too many books, but now my shelves are stocked with things that I can’t wait to read.

  1. Can you buy too many books? That looks like a perfectly reasonable amount of books to me. I hope you enjoy them all. The Cazalet books have been on my TBR for years. One year I will read them 😀
