January was a great reading month despite the fact that I only finished one book, and I’m hoping that carries over into February. I’m still not planning a big tbr. I’m getting into the swing of things with having my first child so I have a little more time to read now. But I mostly want to mood read and I want to leave time for that. Let’s dive into my February 2025 TBR.
Moon of the Crusted Snow

Synopsis:
A daring post-apocalyptic novel from a powerful rising literary voice
With winter looming, a small northern Anishinaabe community goes dark. Cut off, people become passive and confused. Panic builds as the food supply dwindles. While the band council and a pocket of community members struggle to maintain order, an unexpected visitor arrives, escaping the crumbling society to the south. Soon after, others follow.
The community leadership loses its grip on power as the visitors manipulate the tired and hungry to take control of the reserve. Tensions rise and, as the months pass, so does the death toll due to sickness and despair. Frustrated by the building chaos, a group of young friends and their families turn to the land and Anishinaabe tradition in hopes of helping their community thrive again. Guided through the chaos by an unlikely leader named Evan Whitesky, they endeavor to restore order while grappling with a grave decision.
Moon of the Crusted Snow is at the top of my tbr. I’ve wanted to read this from the moment I heard about it. Plus, it seems like a book I need to read before winter is over. And here in Alabama spring could come at anytime. Or it might be cold until May. Who knows. But I want to get to this one asap.
Kings of the Wyld

Synopsis:
Clay Cooper and his band were once the best of the best, the most feared and renowned crew of mercenaries this side of the Heartwyld.
Their glory days long past, the mercs have grown apart and grown old, fat, drunk, or a combination of the three. Then an ex-bandmate turns up at Clay’s door with a plea for help — the kind of mission that only the very brave or the very stupid would sign up for.
It’s time to get the band back together.
Unless my mood changes I’ve been in a huge fantasy mood, but after finishing Wind and Truth I think I need to move to something a little lighter. Kings of the Wyld seems perfect for that. I hope it’s a fun time.
The Reformatory

Synopsis:
Gracetown, Florida
June 1950
Twelve-year-old Robbie Stephens, Jr., is sentenced to six months at the Gracetown School for Boys, a reformatory, for kicking the son of the largest landowner in town in defense of his older sister, Gloria. So begins Robbie’s journey further into the terrors of the Jim Crow South and the very real horror of the school they call The Reformatory.
Robbie has a talent for seeing ghosts, or haints. But what was once a comfort to him after the loss of his mother has become a window to the truth of what happens at the reformatory. Boys forced to work to remediate their so-called crimes have gone missing, but the haints Robbie sees hint at worse things. Through his friends Redbone and Blue, Robbie is learning not just the rules but how to survive. Meanwhile, Gloria is rallying every family member and connection in Florida to find a way to get Robbie out before it’s too late.
And lastly, I want to squeeze in room for The Reformatory. It’s been on my tbr for so long I think it’s time to give it a go. I’ve heard amazing things about it so I have really high hopes for this one. And it will be a nice switch from fantasy so that I don’t burn myself out like I’m prone to do.
So that’s my February 2025 TBR. What are you reading this month?

I hope you enjoy all of these. It looks like you’ve got an interesting mix of books to get to and I’ve seen The Reformatory around a lot. I’m hoping to get to two series finales, one that I missed last year The Ending Fire & also the last Daevabad book.
I hope you enjoy them!
Thank you.
