2025 Midyear Wrap Up

Once again, it’s time for another midyear wrap up. And once again, I can’t believe it’s time for yet another midyear wrap up. It’s no secret that last year was awful. I really didn’t enjoy reading for quite some time. But I’m happy to say that I’m falling back in love with reading a little more every day. So, let’s get to my 2025 midyear wrap up.

Number Read

I’ve read 26 books this year. So, I’ve completed my goal of 25. I’m actually pretty proud to have reached this goal. I’m a new mom of a six-month-old so I’m having to learn how to fit reading into my new, slightly hectic routine.

Favorite Read

So far, my favorite book of the year is a non-fiction audiobook. I think that’s a first for me, but I just really loved The Storyteller by Dave Grohl. It was a great read and Dave Grohl’s narration was spot on. I’m sure my husband got tired of hearing me rave about this one.

Least Favorite Read

My least favorite read, so far, was one of my most anticipated reads of the year. I had really high hopes for The Devils, but it just didn’t work for me. The humor was off, the stakes felt pointless, and I wasn’t the biggest fan of the characters.

DNFed

Moon of Crusted Snow: I loved the premise of this one, but the characters were flat, and the dialogue was one dimensional.

Gardens of the Moon: I’m just not in the head space to start this series yet. I might pick it back up later, but this is the second time I’ve dnfed it.

Howling Dark: The jump from book one to book two was disjointed. It jumped years ahead and introduced a whole new cast of characters with little introduction. Plus, the sheer amount of traveling and waiting was insane. Check out my dnf diaries here.

The Grace of Kings: I read about ten pages of this. I didn’t read enough of it to form an opinion. I just found something else I wanted to read right then. I plan to come back to this one soon.

New Obsession

Memoirs. I never imagined that I would be a memoir reader but here I am.

Goals Moving Forward

My goals moving forward are pretty simple. My main goal is to just keep reading things that I love and dnfing things that I don’t. But I would also like to wrap up some of the series that I’ve started.
