So today I’m doing a vintage book haul. A couple of weekends ago my husband and I visited Big Mill Antiques in Fort Payne, AL. I can’t recommend this place enough. Its an old cotton mill packed full of great, and reasonably priced, antiques. One vendor had all sorts of vintage and collectible books. Here’s a few that I picked up.
Ghost Story

I know it’s not technically vintage. But it is collectible. I was so excited to find a book from The Stephen King Horror Library. Plus, I’ve been wanting to read Ghost Story anyhow. I had to grab it. Now I want to collect all of the titles, but I know that I won’t find them as easily.
The Complete Tales of Edgar Allan Poe

I loved this edition of The Complete Tales and Poems of Edgar Allan Poe. I thought it was gorgeous. It was published by Modern Library. And from the research I’ve done, I believe it was published in 1965. I’m so glad to have it on my shelf.
Grimm’s Complete Fairy Tales

Lastly, I bought this gorgeous copy of Grimm’s Complete Fairy Tales. It’s absolutely striking. The color caught my attention immediately. Nelson Doubleday published this edition. I can’t find an exact publishing year, but most people are in agreement that it was published around 1970.
I had a lot of fun researching these vintage books. Sometimes antique stores have awesome hidden gems. I can’t wait to collect more.
Are you a vintage book collector? What would be your biggest piece of advice to a new collector? I would love some tips. Let me know in the comments.
I love this!! I was once gifted a very old book… Like so old there was horsehair in the binding. I was honored, but super allergic to it so I had to give it back 🙁
That’s so cool. I hate that you couldn’t keep it!
