Mid Year Wrap Up

I don’t understand how it’s already time for my mid year wrap up, but it is. I have to say my reading year so far has been a bit underwhelming. I’ve only read a few books that have really stood out to me. I don’t know if that’s because I’ve been slumpy a majority of the year, or if I’m just not reading the right things.

I will say I’ve noticed a shift in my reading taste. I have really been reaching for a lot of high fantasy. That is thanks to one author in particular, but I will get into that later. Right now let’s start this mid year wrap up.

Number Read

Right now I have read 41 out of 85 books. So I’m right there at the 48% mark. I would prefer to be a little closer to 55% just to give myself some wiggle room at the end of the year, but it is what it is. I feel pretty confident that I will make my goal, but it’s not the end of the world if I don’t.

Favorite Read

I had a hard time picking my favorite. It was a toss up between A Court of Silver Flames and Starsight. In the end I went with A Court of Silver Flames because I’m already so invested in this series. It was so much fun to get to return to this world. And honestly, I never expected to like Nesta, but here I am.

Least Favorite

Oh this was so easy to choose. I didn’t really like The Devil All the Time at all. I had such high hopes for it, but it seriously let me down. I’m not going to talk too much about it because this could easily turn into a rant. I just really didn’t like it.

New Obsession

It wouldn’t be right not to talk about my newfound love of Brandon Sanderson. That has been the biggest thing to happen in my reading year so far. I started with Skyward and I fell in love. I’ve been stalking his blog ever since. I fell down the Cosmere rabbit hole and now I’m working my way through the Mistborn Trilogy. I’m obsessed. I just connect with his writing so easily. Plus, I think it’s awesome that he gives weekly updates on his writing progress. It makes me feel included in the journey. If you haven’t checked him out, you need to.

Goals moving Forward

  1. Finish the Mistborn Trilogy
  2. Finish the Skyward Series
  3. Start The Stormlight Archives
  4. Read more of my physical tbr

So that is it for my mid year wrap up. How’s your reading year going? Do you have any updated goals?
