December 2021 TBR

I’m not putting much on my December 2021 tbr. I want to mood read this month. Plus, we’re probably going to be really busy. While I like setting goals, I know sometimes taking a step back is better than setting unattainable goals. I do need to read five books to make my Goodreads goal, but I’m just going to follow my mood. So here is my very short December 2021 tbr.

The Hero of Ages

Synopsis:

Who is the Hero of Ages?

To end the Final Empire and restore freedom, Vin killed the Lord Ruler. But as a result, the Deepness–the lethal form of the ubiquitous mists–is back, along with increasingly heavy ashfalls and ever more powerful earthquakes. Humanity appears to be doomed.

Having escaped death at the climax of The Well of Ascension only by becoming a Mistborn himself, Emperor Elend Venture hopes to find clues left behind by the Lord Ruler that will allow him to save the world. Vin is consumed with guilt at having been tricked into releasing the mystic force known as Ruin from the Well. Ruin wants to end the world, and its near omniscience and ability to warp reality make stopping it seem impossible. She can’t even discuss it with Elend lest Ruin learn their plans

So I can’t really believe that I’ve waited so long to pick up The Hero of Ages. But part of me knows I’m not ready for this series to end. But I don’t want to let 2021 end without finishing this series. It is my top priority this month.

The Ex Hex

Synopsis:

Nine years ago, Vivienne Jones nursed her broken heart like any young witch would: vodka, weepy music, bubble baths…and a curse on the horrible boyfriend. Sure, Vivi knows she shouldn’t use her magic this way, but with only an “orchard hayride” scented candle on hand, she isn’t worried it will cause him anything more than a bad hair day or two.

That is until Rhys Penhallow, descendent of the town’s ancestors, breaker of hearts, and annoyingly just as gorgeous as he always was, returns to Graves Glen, Georgia. What should be a quick trip to recharge the town’s ley lines and make an appearance at the annual fall festival turns disastrously wrong. With one calamity after another striking Rhys, Vivi realizes her silly little Ex Hex may not have been so harmless after all.

Suddenly, Graves Glen is under attack from murderous wind-up toys, a pissed off ghost, and a talking cat with some interesting things to say. Vivi and Rhys have to ignore their off the charts chemistry to work together to save the town and find a way to break the break-up curse before it’s too late.

So here’s the thing. Uncorked Reading Challenge December prompt is read a multi-cultural rom-com. I’m trying not to buy books this month and The Ex Hex is the only rom-com I own. Plus, I’m not even sure if it’s considered a rom-com. Butttt since romance is so outside of my comfort zone, I feel like it would be ok to cheat a little. So that’s what I’m going to do. Unless, I find something to fit the prompt on Libby to listen to. If you have any suggestions let me know.

That is my last tbr of the year. I can’t believe it. What’s on your December 2021 tbr?
