May 2022 TBR

My May 2022 TBR is going to look very similar to my last book haul. I’m hoping to finish The Way of Kings soon, so I think I’m going to need a break from epic fantasy. I just need something light and easy to read. So, let’s talk about what I have planned for May.

Deserter

Synopsis:

A vengeful family hides an army deserter for eight years after the end of World War II, cocooning him in a false reality where the war never ended. A pair of girls look alike, but they’re not twins. And a boy’s nightmare threatens to spill out into the real world…

I have missed the work of Junji Ito and this feels like the perfect place to jump back it. I’m really excited, and afraid, to see what Deserter has in store.

The Haunted Bookstore

Synopsis:

Kaori lives in an otherworldly bookstore with her adoptive father. Together, they provide books to the strange denizens of the spirit realm. But Kaori’s peaceful days come to an end when she rescues an injured boy from the streets–a human, like her, from the mortal realm. The boy’s name is Suimei, and he’s an exorcist, the natural enemy of all spirits. Can Kaori convince Suimei that the line between human and spirit is far hazier than he thinks? A touching supernatural tale where humanity and Japanese folklore intertwine!

I saw this in the Manga section the last time we went to Barnes and Noble. It looked so fun, so I grabbed it. It’s not super long and I’ve never read anything quite like it. I’m really looking forward to trying it.

Purchase

So those are the two books I have planned for my May 2022 tbr. We’re making a quick weekend trip to Savannah, and I’m planning to go to E. Shaver Book Seller. So, I want to be sure to save room on my tbr for whatever I buy there. What are you reading this month?
