I’ve been obsessed with The Kingkiller Chronicle, so it makes sense that The Slow Regard of Silent Things was my next read. I was so excited to learn more about Auri, and since this is from her point of view, I expected to love it. Unfortunately, it just didn’t hit the mark. So, let’s get into my thoughts.
Under the University lives a girl named Auri. She is full of mystery and intrigue. She is the keeper of lost things that show up in her tunnel. And while Kvothe is off on his big adventure, Auri has a small one of her own.
My Thoughts on The Slow Regard of Silent Things
Honestly, I can’t believe that Patrick Rothfuss wrote The Slow Regard of Silent Things. His writing style in this doesn’t match the other two books. I was looking forward to learning more about Auri, but the character development wasn’t there. I still don’t know any more about her after reading this. The world building is still great, but Auri felt flat. I’m glad I read this, but I’m sad that it didn’t give any more insight into her world.
Don’t get me wrong this is still one of my favorite series. I’m so ready for book three to be released. I hope to learn more about Auri then.
My Rating: 3/5
