The Lost Metal

If you’re looking for a beautifully written, thoughtful review of The Lost Metal, then you’re in the wrong place lol. I just finished it last night and the emotions are still a little raw. But let’s get to it.

Synopsis

For years, Waxillium Ladrian has hunted the shadowy organization the Set since they started kidnapping people with the power of Allomancy.. When Detective Marasi Colms and her partner Wayne find stockpiled weapons bound for the Outer City of Bilming, this opens a new lead. Conflict between Elendel and the Outer Cities only favors the Set, and their tendrils now reach to the Elendel Senate–whose corruption Wax and Steris have sought to expose–and Bilming is even more entangled.

After Wax discovers a new type of explosive that can unleash unprecedented destruction and realizes that the Set must already have it, an immortal kandra serving Scadrial’s god, Harmony, reveals that Bilming has fallen under the influence of another god: Trell, worshipped by the Set. And Trell isn’t the only factor at play from the larger Cosmere–Marasi is recruited by offworlders with strange abilities who claim their goal is to protect Scadrial…at any cost.

Wax must choose whether to set aside his rocky relationship with God and once again become the Sword that Harmony has groomed him to be.

My Thoughts on The Lost Metal

What the heck, Brandon Sanderson??? It’s not nice to play with people’s emotions. But I don’t want to spoil anything so I’m going to keep my mouth shut. Honestly, writing this review is a little hard because there is so much that can be spoiled. There were twists and turns around every corner. But The Lost Metal is a gorgeous story that you need to experience. And it might even be best to go in blind.

There was a small bit of time where I felt just a little bit disconnected from the story. There were some new characters and plotlines thrown in that took me a minute to adjust to. But once I figured out where the story was going, I was immediately drawn back in. In true Sanderson fashion, The Lost Metal was an epic conclusion to The Wax and Wayne series.

My Rating: 5/5
