I have been loving spooky books recently. I started with thrillers, and I’ve moved on to horror. So of course, I’ve come back around to one of my favorite authors, Stephen King.
I’ve had Christine on my shelf since 2015. I’ve been working on clearing my shelf off and I just couldn’t bring myself to let go of it. So I finally decided to pick it up, and I’m so glad I did. This could be my favorite King book yet.
And don’t let the fact that it’s centered around a car put you off. I don’t know a lot about cars either. But that the beauty of Christine. You don’t have to. It’s spooky from the get-go. And it also showcases King’s talent of slice of life writing. There are the bone chilling parts of course but it’s mixed in with everyday life, and somehow that makes it even better.
So that’s my rambling thoughts on Christine so far. I’m hoping to wrap it up this week. Then I’ll probably start Come with Me by Ronald Malfi.
What about you? What are you reading on this hot July Monday? Are you reading any spooky summer reads?
I read Christine SO many years ago (and I think I’ve even seen the movie). I do love some of the older King books, and there a bunch I still need to go back to as well.
There’s something nostalgic about the older King books to me. My uncle loved Stephen King so it just takes me back to book discussions with him.
I haven’t read this one but I have seen the film. I have a mental block on going back to read a book once I’ve seen the film so I probably won’t go back to this now but there are plenty more King books still waiting for me to pick up.
Lynn 😀
I understand that! I’m the same way. I feel like the movie takes away a lot of the suspense.
