I work in a small office. I’m at my desk almost eight hours out of the day. This sedentary lifestyle is catching up with me. I used to be in decent shape, but now I feel sluggish most days. I’m tired of feeling this way and it’s time to make some changes. I want to be healthier. So, I’m blogging about it to tract my progress. I’m a goal-oriented Capricorn, so I’m hoping these check ins with keep me motivated. Let’s get started.
My Goals
- Eat Healthier. This is a big part of feeling better. I know when I eat right, I feel better. I want to eat more whole foods and less processed foods. I need to increase the number of fruits and vegetables in my diet.
- Walk More. Last month I averaged 2,858 steps a day. I would like to double that this month. It’s going to be a bit challenging because our office is small, but getting up throughout the day to clear my head and walk will be beneficial.
- Get Better Sleep. I haven’t slept well for quite some time. I have a bad habit of drinking caffeine too late, and it keeps me awake. I need to stop that. I also want to start waking up earlier so that I can have a more relaxing morning. Instead of rushing about.
What does this have to do with reading?
Two things. I want to find some cookbooks that have wholesome meals in them. I may share those recipes every now and then on the blog. Some of my favorite posts are my recipe taste tests, and I’ve gotten away from them. So I would like to bring those back.
But the main thing is I will be listening to a lot of audiobooks during my evening walks. So, I will share my progress and my audiobooks every month. In the meantime, if you have any audiobook recommendations drop them in the comments.
I hope you’ll go on this journey with me, and I hope it will be a fun one. Here’s to a healthier, happier life.

Best of luck with your goals! If you’re looking for cookbook recs, I’ve got a massive collection and would be happy to share my favorites for more plant-based meals (aka how I trick myself into eating veggies lol).
Yes! I would love to see some of your recommendations!
I really like Minimalist Baker. Her website has a ton of great recipes, and she also put on a cookbook. Another one we use a lot is Oh She Glows, which has a few different books out as well as a website.
Good luck with your goals. Getting up and moving often definitely helps fitness levels. Even a few steps every hour soon mount up
Thank you for the encouragement!
Good luck reaching your goals! I really need to do something similar, but I just haven’t had the motivation.
Thanks! It’s taken a while for me to be motivated enough to start but we’re hoping to go overseas next year. I just want to be in a bit better shape because we will be doing a lot of walking.
