Cj’s birthday was last week so we decided to go on a quick little road trip. We’ve always wanted to try hotpot and Korean BBQ and the closest place to us was about two hours away in Duluth, Georgia. So that’s where we decided to go.
John’s Creek Books

If we go out of town, I have to find an indie bookstore to visit. Johns Creek Books & Gifts is just a few minutes up the road from Duluth in the cute little town of John’s Creek. It was such a cute area. I’d like to go back just to explore it a little more.

I mean look how cute this bookstore is! It had such a warm, relaxing vibe. It made me feel so happy.

They had a great selection of books, so I splurged a little. I have a haul coming Monday. I picked up some really great books.
E.M. Bop Korean Barbeque

All of that shopping made us hungry, so the next place we visited was E.M. Bop Korean BBQ. We’d heard great reviews of this place and wanted to check it out. Mike Chen from Strictly Dumpling has even visited here before.

This was our first Korean BBQ experience, and we absolutely loved it. We did all you can eat lunch and it was an absolute feast. My favorite meat was the miso porkbelly. It was sooo good. And the cheesy corn in the picture was just a side dish, but it stole the show. Everything we ate was delicious and it was a great price as well.
HMart

After we finished lunch, we headed over the H Mart. I didn’t take a lot of pictures but exploring all the snacks was so much fun. We visited H Mart three different times and came out with a bunch of stuff each time. I stumbled across some black sugar almonds, and I’m absolutely obsessed with them. I’m going to honest we went a little overboard with the snacks, but I shouldn’t have to buy groceries for a while.
Xing Fu Tang Tea Bar

The main place on my list that I wanted to visit in Duluth was Xing Fu Tang Tea Bar. I’m obsessed with boba tea, and they make their boba from scratch, so I was intrigued.

This is probably the nicest boba tea shop that I’ve ever been to. If I lived in that area I would never leave.

I ordered the Gold Foil Brown Sugar Milk tea. It was a brown sugar milk tea with cheese foam, caramelized sugar, and edible gold on top. Words can’t even begin to describe how tasty it was.
Tree Story Bakery

The next morning, we woke up and decided to visit Tree Story Bakery for breakfast.

We bought a custard bun, sweet potato bites, sponge cake, and an apple pie. Needless to say, we were on a sugar high there for a while. But it was totally worth it.
Lake Lanier

I’ve always wanted to visit Lake Lanier and while we were that close, we figured it would be a good time to go. Plus, we had just visited the bakery, so we had some extra carbs that we needed to walk off. We went to Buford Dam Park, and it was beautiful. And I got to play with my new GoPro so that was a plus.

I Luv Hotpot

After we finished up our walk, we had lunch at I Luv Hot Pot. I’m obsessed with this place. All of the ingredients for the hotpot are on a conveyor belt system, so you just grab what you want. The seafood and meat were all super fresh. We actually ate here twice because we enjoyed it so much.
Mega Mart

The next place we visited was called MEGAMART. This place was absolutely huge. It was actually two stories with a huge bakery and deli.

This picture doesn’t even begin to show how big this place is. I bought some Korean fried chicken from the deli, and I found a new favorite food.

And of course, we visited the bakery. I got a strawberry mousse cream puff that was almost too cute to eat.

And Cj got a strawberry cream sandwich.
Zion Market

The last store we visited in Duluth was Zion Market. It wasn’t quite as big as H Mart or Mega Mart, but they still had plenty of interesting things. I actually bought several skin care products here that I genuinely love. They are good quality and reasonably priced.
Barnes & Noble

And our last stop of the trip was at Barnes in Noble in Marietta, Georgia. I was on the hunt for Dylan Hollis’s cookbook, and I found it. But, of course, I had to check out the rest of the store because it was so well stocked. And they had a bookshelf ladder!!! I was so excited.
So that was our quick weekend trip to Duluth, Georgia. We had a lot of fun and ate a lot of tasty food. I’m trying to get back to healthier diet this week because I definitely over-indulged. But isn’t that what vacations are for?
Looks like an awesome trip!!
Thanks. It was!
Looks like a great trip! I love visiting bookstores when I travel.
Thanks! It was! We don’t have a bookstore close to us at home so it’s definitely at the top of my list to do when we travel.
I love the look of that bookstore. I could easily lose a couple of hours in that.
Sounds like you had a great weekend.
Lynn 😀
