March 2024 TBR

Hi. Yes. It is time for my March 2024 tbr. Usually, when I make these, I have some idea of what I want to read for the month. Not this time. And usually, when I make my tbrs I have cute little pictures to go with. Also, not this time. It’s raining like crazy here and frankly I have no clue what I want to read. So honestly, I’m just going to wing it. If you want to stick around for my rambling, then keep reading. Maybe I will pull it together before the end of this post. Happy March everybody. It’s going to be a good one.

The Duke and I

Synopsis:

In the ballrooms and drawing rooms of Regency London, rules abound. From their earliest days, children of aristocrats learn how to address an earl and curtsey before a prince—while other dictates of the ton are unspoken yet universally understood. A proper duke should be imperious and aloof. A young, marriageable lady should be amiable…but not too amiable.

Daphne Bridgerton has always failed at the latter. The fourth of eight siblings in her close-knit family, she has formed friendships with the most eligible young men in London. Everyone likes Daphne for her kindness and wit. But no one truly desires her. She is simply too deuced honest for that, too unwilling to play the romantic games that captivate gentlemen.

Amiability is not a characteristic shared by Simon Basset, Duke of Hastings. Recently returned to England from abroad, he intends to shun both marriage and society—just as his callous father shunned Simon throughout his painful childhood. Yet an encounter with his best friend’s sister offers another option. If Daphne agrees to a fake courtship, Simon can deter the mamas who parade their daughters before him. Daphne, meanwhile, will see her prospects and her reputation soar.

The plan works like a charm—at first. But amid the glittering, gossipy, cut-throat world of London’s elite, there is only one certainty: love ignores every rule…

I started this on my Kindle yesterday. Sometimes when I get in moods like this, I can give a different genre a read and it will pull me out of my slump. So that’s what I’m hoping for. I hope this is a fun, spicy read that will make me fall in love with reading again.

House of Flame and Shadow

Synopsis:

Bryce Quinlan never expected to see a world other than Midgard, but now that she has, all she wants is to get back. Everything she loves is in Midgard: her family, her friends, her mate. Stranded in a strange new world, she’s going to need all her wits about her to get home again. And that’s no easy feat when she has no idea who to trust.

Hunt Athalar has found himself in some deep holes in his life, but this one might be the deepest of all. After a few brief months with everything he ever wanted, he’s in the Asteri’s dungeons again, stripped of his freedom and without a clue as to Bryce’s fate. He’s desperate to help her, but until he can escape the Asteri’s leash, his hands are quite literally tied.

I chose to go into a book hangover/slump at the worst time. I really want to read House of Flame and Shadow and I want to love it. But at the same time my brain keeps getting bogged down in the details. I’m hoping I can shake that off and finish this up before the end of March. If my attention span will let me.

The Frugal Wizard’s Handbook for Surviving Medieval England

Synopsis:

A man awakes in a clearing in what appears to be medieval England with no memory of who he is, where he came from, or why he is there. Chased by a group from his own time, his sole hope for survival lies in regaining his missing memories, making allies among the locals, and perhaps even trusting in their superstitious boasts. His only help from the “real world” should have been a guidebook entitled The Frugal Wizard’s Handbook for Surviving Medieval England, except his copy exploded during transit. The few fragments he managed to save provide clues to his situation, but can he figure them out in time to survive?

I really don’t know what to expect from this one, but it’s Brandon Sanderson so I hope to love it. I’ve heard that it’s a lot of fun. I really wanted to be farther along with my reading the Secret Projects goal, but it is what it is. I want to give these books a fair shot, so I don’t want to read them when I’m in a blah mood.

So, that’s my March 2024 tbr. But honestly, if my copy of Empire of the Damned gets here I will probably stop everything to give it a read. But it’s a Waterstones Edition so I don’t really expect it here in March. But we will see.

What are you reading this month? Thanks for sticking around and reading my rambling thoughts.

  1. The thing about Bridgerton books is they just get better!! I think Kate and Anthony is my favorite, it was hilarious and nothing like the show, they changed too much.
    Have a great reading month!

  2. Enjoy your reads. I also have a copy of the Sanderson book which I’m hoping to get to as part of my Beat the Backlist challenge.
    Lynn 😀
