I’m back from my short unplanned hiatus with a review for The Next Mrs. Parrish. I want to take a minute to thank the publisher for a copy of this book in exchange for my honest opinion.
Synopsis
Amber Patterson Parrish has come a long way from being an invisible wallflower. Her hard work and immaculate planning have paid off now that she’s a prominent socialite. Less than a year Jackson’s tax-evasion scandal, Amber is still at the top of the Bishops Harbor community pecking order. But that freedom is quickly coming to an end. With Jackson getting released from prison, Amber’s time—and money—is vanishing.
Meanwhile, Daphne Parrish left Bishops Harbor after her divorce from Jackson Parrish, swearing she would never go back. But when one of her daughters runs away from home, Daphne agrees to return for the summer. Once out of prison, Jackson swears he’s a changed man, but Daphne knows that he can’t be trusted.
When a ghost from Amber’s past emerges looking for revenge, the three of them find unlikely allies in one another, but who is playing who? When all is said and done, they’ll have to fight tooth and nail for everything they have left in this zero-sum game.
My Thoughts on The Last Mrs. Parrish
After finishing The Last Mrs. Parrish I wondered if the sequel was necessary. I was mostly satisfied with the way the last book ended, so I thought it might be a bit redundant. But that was further from the truth. If anything, I liked The Next Mrs. Parrish better than the first book. But beware you will have to deal with unraveling some of the progress made in the first book.
When Daphne first decided that she was going to spend the summer near Jackson, I knew it wasn’t going to end well. But again, Jackson is a master manipulator, and everything seemed above board to begin with.
And while the Daphne and Jackson’s storyline worked itself out it was interesting to see the schemes that Amber came up with. She’s just as manipulative as Jackson if not more. And her storyline introduces another character named Daisy Ann that popped up from Amber’s past. And honestly, I think she’s the best character of them all.
The Next Mrs. Parrish had satisfying character development and a lot of twists and turns that kept me hooked until the end. Just be prepared for a small cliffhanger at the end.
My Rating: 4/5

I love when an author proves to us readers that a sequel is totally justified! 😀 Glad you enjoyed this. 😀
Same! It’s so satisfying.
