January 2025 TBR and Life Update

I have a super short January 2025 tbr and it’s literally the same as last month so I felt silly doing a dedicated post on it. I decided I would tack on a life update as well since a lot has change in the last few months. So let’s chat.

January 2025 TBR

Synopsis:

Dalinar Kholin challenged the evil god Odium to a contest of champions with the future of Roshar on the line. The Knights Radiant have only ten days to prepare–and the sudden ascension of the crafty and ruthless Taravangian to take Odium’s place has thrown everything into disarray.Desperate fighting continues simultaneously worldwide–Adolin in Azir, Sigzil and Venli at the Shattered Plains, and Jasnah in Thaylenah.

The former assassin, Szeth, must cleanse his homeland of Shinovar from the dark influence of the Unmade. He is accompanied by Kaladin, who faces a new battle helping Szeth fight his own demons .

At the same time, Shallan, Renarin, and Rlain work to unravel the mystery behind the Unmade Ba-Ado-Mishram. And Dalinar and Navani seek an edge against Odium’s champion that can be found only in the Spiritual Realm. The fate of the entire Cosmere hangs in the balance.

I didn’t start Wind and Truth until the end of December. It’s a chunky guy and will probably take up most of this month. If a miracle happens and I finish it I’ll probably wrap up The Women in White as well.

Chatty Life Update

November 27, 2024 absolutely changed my life. Obviously, I knew I was pregnant and I knew I was going to have a baby but nothing about it went the way that I planned, hahaha. Little Bit was due on December 5th so I didn’t take maternity leave until November 26th. On the 27th I had basic prenatal appointment, or so I thought, that my mom took me to. At that point I was heavily pregnant and had only been out of casts for about a month so walking still wasn’t exactly easy. Well to my surprise my blood pressure was really high that day. I had had some blood pressure issues but nothing major, so I didn’t think too much of it. Well, when the doctor came in he immediately sent me to labor and delivery because I was showing symptoms of preeclampsia.

From that point on everything was a blur. I went in to be induced around 9:00 that morning and had my baby at 8:30 the next morning. I had blood pressure issues during the night as well and I just generally felt out of it. Honestly, I don’t remember a ton about that night other than the fact that I had to have my epidural placed twice (due to my funky spine) and the fact that I had one of the worst headaches of my life. But Little Bit was born and she was a perfectly healthy baby and that’s all I could ask for.

The weeks after she was born I still had some health issues and I’m still a preeclampsia risk. I have to wear a bracelet for six weeks in case something happens. And I’m pretty sure it’s probably the most expensive bracelet I own now, hahaha. I won’t get on a rant about the prices of the US Health System but I’ll just leave you with the fact that one Tylenol cost $170.

Anyhow, I’m starting to get my energy back and get into the groove of motherhood. I’m really enjoying spending time with my baby before I have to go back to work. Maternity leave is so short. And I’m also getting back into the groove of blogging and boy have I missed it. I’ve missed you guys as well. I appreciate all the love yall’ve shown me through this year and I can’t wait to make 2025 an awesome year!
