With the dawn of a new year comes new books to dive into. And since I’m finally back in a reading mood I’m super excited to list my 2025 anticipated reads. Now I want to note these aren’t new releases. They’re just books that I’m excited to read in the new year.
Moon of the Crusted Snow

Moon of the Crusted Snow was mentioned by The Plant Based Bride in one of her recent videos. She was actually reviewing it’s sequel but she gave a recap of this and it sounded great. At one time I really loved dystopian novels so I’m excited to give the subgenre another go.
James

I read the synopsis of James recently and I haven’t been able to forget about it. I love retellings and I love Southern classics so I think this will be the perfect retelling for me. On a side note, I want to re-read The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn before giving this a read to reacquaint myself with the story and the characters.
The Grace of Kings

Wind and Truth has me in a fantasy mood and The Grace of Kings really piqued my interest. It sounds like a familiar plot that would be comforting to return to, but unique enough to keep my interest. I’ve heard so many good things about it. Plus, I’m always on the hunt for a good Asian based fantasy.
The Devils

The Devils is the only book on this list that hasn’t released yet. I think it comes out later in May. I’m a bit hesitant to add it to the list because I’ve tried some Joe Abecrombie in the past and didn’t connect to his writing, but the premise of a priest with a congregation of murderers and thieves sounds enticing.
So those are my 2025 most anticipated reads. Let me know if you’ve read any of them in the comments. I’d love to hear your thoughts.
