I use the Libby app to borrow audiobooks to listen to during my forty-five minute commute. I like listening to audiobooks in general, but I really love to listen to non-fiction. I’ve found a few non-fiction authors that were recommended through Libby, and I’ve really enjoyed them. So, here are a few new to me non-fiction authors that I’ve been reading lately.
Erik Larson
I thought The Devil in the White City was Erik Larson’s debut, but I was quite wrong. He has a pretty extensive bibliography. I tried to read a few of his books, and I ended up dnfing them at the time. However, I had a chance to borrow Dead Wake through my library, and I’m hooked. Once I got used to his style, I really enjoyed myself. Now I’m listening to The Splendid and the Vile and it’s great too. I look forward to reading more from him.
Beth Moore
I borrowed All My Knotted-Up Life on a whim. I ended up loving it and her personality. I’ve listened to a few of her devotionals and things. One of my particular favorites was A Heart Like His.
Bill O’ Reilly
I fear I might open a can of worms with this one. Let me just say I don’t really know who Bill O’ Reilly is. According to Google, he is a journalist and a political commentator. I don’t know what side he supports. I am not big into politics. Honestly, I would rather have my teeth yanked out of my head than to discuss politics. With all that being said Bill O’ Reilly writes a series that I love called the Killing series. My personal favorites are Killing Kennedy and Killing the Mob. He does a deep dive into the history surrounding these events. And I can’t wait to get my hands on a copy of Killing the Witches. So, the key takeaway here is I don’t like politics, but I do like history, haha. I hope that is clear enough to avoid controversy.
Well, that’s a few new to me non-fiction authors. If you have any non-fiction recommendations, drop them in the comments below.
