I’m very pro-summmerween. There’s something about summer that makes me crave a fast-paced spine chilling read. So I absolutely had to jump on this Summerween Book Tag. I found it over on Life of a Female Bibliophile so be sure to check hers out as well.
What spooky reads are you most excited about in your TBR list/pile right now?

I’m super excited to read When the Wolf Comes Home. I’ve heard so many great things about it, and Nat Cassidy in general.
What’s your favorite revenge novel?

Gothictown was a fun revenge novel. I won’t go into details because I don’t want to spoil it for you though. It was a great read.
What’s a horror or thriller/crime book you wish you could experience for the first time?

I wish I could experience Cackle again. It was, and still is, such a unique read.
Sucks to suck! You were just given a handful of your least favorite candy. The one not even your siblings or friends will trade for. What candy is it and what spooky book did you want to love that disappointed you?

My least favorite candy would be Jolly Ranchers. I know. I know. That’s pretty controversial, but it is what it is.
And if you checked out my dnf diaries you’ll know that The Buffalo Hunter Hunter really disappointed me.
Time to put on your costume! If you could exist in one spooky novel, which one would it be? Who would your best friend be?

I’m cheating and using Cackle again. It’s a cozy horror so at least it wouldn’t be as scary as a normal horror. I don’t know that I would want to be Sophie’s best friend but I definitely don’t want to be on her bad side, haha.
What’s your favorite haunted house book and/or television show?

The most recent haunted house book that I love was The September House. It was a great haunted house story with more depth than I expected.

And The Woman in Black by Susan Hill is probably my favorite classic haunted house story.
The food question. You can ONLY pick one from each would you rather. A. Chocolate or Sour Candy? B. Coffee or tea? C. Apple or pumpkin pie?
Sour Candy
Coffee
Pumpkin Pie
Show us your favorite book with a witch or a woman who gets screwed over by society and the patriarchy.

Slewfoot! This is the easiest answer thus far.
Which book on your shelves or audiobook library has the scariest book cover?

The Reformatory’s cover is beautiful, but so, so ominous. It captures the feeling of the book perfectly. You can just feel the evil when you look at this cover.
It’s Summerween and it’s hot outside! What book(s) do you recommend that give off summer vibes? Think lakes, cabins beaches, etc. Whatever reminds you of summer!

Memorials is the best Summerween book I’ve experienced. It has roadtrip/camping vibes set in the summer in the Appalachian mountains. It was glorious.
You and your friends are exploring a well known haunted house. You get separated and suddenly you hear screams coming from somewhere upstairs. Then You run into the next room and find two of your friends. Which 2 fictional characters are they? Who do you want in this situation with you?
I’m pulling from fantasy for this one. Give me Kaladin Stormblessed and Dalinar Kholin. If things are going to get scary I want them in my corner.
Trick or treat! Stephen King, H. P. Lovecraft, Mary Shelley, and Shirley Jackson are at your front door. Who do you give the best and biggest candy bar to?
Stephen King for sure. I didn’t love Frankenstein or The Haunting of Hill House. And I haven’t read H.P. Lovecraft yet.
What is your favorite spooky book to movie adaptation where both of them are good?
I feel like most Stephen King adaptations that I’ve watched are good. The Shining and IT are my favorite.
So that was the Summerween Book Tag. If you want to play along I tag you!
