Spring has officially sprung and I’m craving all of the fresh feelings that comes along with it. This is a season full of sunshine, flowers, and adventure (and POLLEN!!!). Seriously, everything is yellow. If I don’t type this quickly enough, I will probably even be yellow and I’m sitting inside. But I digress. Anyhow, I’ve dusted off my favorite fantasy books that feel like spring. Let’s talk about it.
The Hobbit

The Hobbit has always felt like spring to me. There’s something about Tolkien’s writing that just creates the perfect natural backdrop. I would love to live in the Shire. Could you imagine all of the beautiful plants blooming? It would be lovely.
The Eye of the World

Jordan’s writing is heavily inspired by Tolkien, so it has that same lush natural feeling that The Hobbit has. The Eye of the World starts off during the Bel Tine festival, so we follow the spring season with the characters. I read the first two books during a camping trip so that really helped enhance that natural setting.
Tress of the Emerald Sea

This book is verdant. That is literally the only way I can describe Tress of the Emerald Sea. It’s technically set on a sea, but it’s a sea full of spores that erupt into vines if they get wet. So again. It’s verdant. I also love a good adventure in the spring, and this checks all the boxes.
Emily Wilde’s Encyclopedia of Faeries

Lastly, I had to include Emily Wilde’s Encyclopedia of Faeries. Now I didn’t love the romance in this, or the direction it turned, but I did enjoy the overall concept. It’s a cozy fantasy that follows our main character on her quest to document the local Fair Folk.
So those are a few fantasy books that feel like spring. If you’re a seasonal reader drop a few of your favorites in the comments. I’d love to add some to my tbr.
