I’m running behind on my reading goal this year. While I know a number goal doesn’t really matter, it’s important to me. When I set a goal, I want to finish a goal. I blame that on my Capricorn nature. So, anyhow I just wanted to take a second and break down my goal and share some thoughts on how to catch up. Just in case you’re in the same place that I am.
Where I’m At

I wanted to read fifty books this year. So far, I’ve read 23. That seven books behind schedule number is a tad startling to me, hahaha. So, I need to read roughly five books a month to catch up.
How Am I Going to Do It?
Well, frankly, I need to chunk my phone in the ocean. I’ve fallen into a doomscroll habit. I actually took a break in the middle of this post to check Facebook. And honestly, I don’t even enjoy Facebook. I do enjoy reading so I don’t know why I’m choosing that instead. So going forward I’m going to be more mindful of how I spend my time.
Another factor is that I’ve read some pretty slow paced, chunky books this year. That’s slowed my goal some as well. Going forward I want to focus on reading some novellas and audiobooks in between some of my chunkier books. I think that will also help the reading fatigue I’ve felt lately. I can get bogged down when I stay in a book for too long. Come back toward the end of the week and I’ll share some of the novellas I’m planning to pick up.
So, that’s my plan going forward. Wish me luck.
How’s your reading goal going?
