In my last post I mentioned that I would share my novella tbr in case you need to squeeze in a few extra books as well. So here are a few I hope to read to help meet my yearly goal. Let’s get to it.
The Mist

Of all of Stephen King’s short stories I’m not sure why I chose The Mist. I’ve watched the movie. It was fine. I love the premise though, so I do want to see if I like the short story better. I’m hoping for an atmospheric, oppressive read. And, hey, it’s only 176 pages, so even if I don’t love it, it’s not a huge time commitment.
A Study in Scarlet

One of my 2026 reading goals was to read more classics. I’ve not exactly prioritized that goal. However, A Study in Scarlet is on that list and I’m still excited to read this novella. If it happens to help me check off more than one goal, then I can’t ask for me.
Cycle of the Werewolf

I have a blah relationship with werewolf stories. I can’t name one that I have loved. Most have disappointed me if I’m being honest. I figured if anyone could make me completely love this monster it would be King. Wish me luck on Cycle of the Werewolf.
Breakfast at Tiffany’s

Lastly, we have Breakfast at Tiffany’s. I’ve always wanted to read more of Truman Capote’s work. I know he’s lived all over the world, but we claim him as an Alabama writer. His friendship with Harper Lee has always intrigued me and made me want to look into him more. So, I figured now’s the time. I’ve listened to In Cold Blood, but I think it’s time to read one of his most famous short stories.
So those are a few novellas I hope to get read soon. I still want to make my way through Edge of Eternity this month, but I think I’ll need a few novellas in between to prevent a reading slump.

I’ve read the Sherlock Holmes book – I read them all quite a few years ago and enjoyed them.
