A Bookstore and A Restaurant: The Perfect Day

Cj and I celebrated Valentine’s Day a week late because we were both sick on the actual day. We decided to stay close to home since it was a weekday, but we still had a great time. It’s always fun to explore your area because there might be some hidden gems that you’re missing.

Harp and Clover

Harp and Clover was our first stop of the day. Well, technically, we had our taxes done first but that’s no fun. Anyhow, I’ve heard about Harp and Clover for several years now, but we haven’t ever tried it. Let me just say, I regret all the years we could have been eating there and haven’t because it was absolutely delicious.

For appetizers we got the soft pretzel and the crispy Brussel sprouts. I could have made a meal off of the Brussel sprouts alone. I loved them. They were the perfect blend of roasted earthy Brussel sprouts, sweet golden raisins, salty bacon, and creamy bleu cheese. They were divine. The pretzel was really good too. It was flaky and soft, and it went great with their house made beer cheese.

For our mains I got the Cajun chicken with Boursin mashed potatoes and roasted asparagus. The chicken was unbelievably tender and flavorful. It left me craving more. Cj got the half rack of lamb with potato salad and asparagus. I snuck a taste of his lamb, and I enjoyed it as well.

Books a Million

Since we were in the area, I stopped by Books a Million just to browse. It had been a minute since I’d been to this location, and I was shocked by all of the puzzles that they had stocked. I’ve become slightly obsessed with puzzles lately, so it was a little hard to control myself.

But I’m happy to announce that my rolling book fund that I started at the first of the year has worked so far. I left the store with The Warm Hands of Ghosts. And that was the only book I bought! I’m so proud of myself.

I really enjoyed our day out. It was a nice break after being sick. It helped to get out in the sunlight and get some exercise. I hope you had a good day too! And let me know what you’re reading in the comments. I’d love to know.
