National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation Book Tag

National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation was one of my dad’s favorite Christmas movies and I loved to watch it with him every year. So, when I saw the National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation Book Tag over at Ali’s Books, I knew I needed to play along. What a great way to celebrate Christmas Eve. While you’re reading this, I’ll be watching the movie. And if you’ve not seen the movie stop what you’re doing and go watch it!

Cousin Eddie Arrives ~ Unexpected Visitor for Christmas

The first book that came to mind was A Christmas Carol. I’m absolutely certain that Ebenezer Scrooge never imagined that he would be visited by three ghosts for Christmas.

Uncle Lewis and Aunt Bethany ~ Home for the Holidays

Skipping Christmas was one of my favorite books in school. The parents had planned to go out of town but then all of a sudden, the family decided to have a normal Christmas instead. And chaos ensues in the best way.

The Griswold Family Tree ~ Christmas Tree Farm

I enjoyed Bright Lights, Big Christmas because of the Christmas tree farm setting. It was a lot of fun and made me feel super festive. There were some other parts about the book that I didn’t love but the setting itself was great.

Christmas Shopping with Cousin Eddie ~ Secret Santa

I haven’t read The Secret Santa but I clearly remember it being on the bookshelf at our school library every year.

Trapped in the Attic ~ Snowed In

So, this is the opposite of Christmasy, but The Shining is the first thing that comes to mind when I think of being snowed in. It’s a great winter read but be sure to have a cup of coffee and a blanket nearby.

Eat My Rubber ~ Snowy Car Accident

Don’t hold me to this because the details are hazy, but I think there was a snowy car accident in Bone White when Paul goes to Alaska to look for his missing brother. But there is so much more to the story than that.

Lotta Lights Dad ~ Christmas Competition

I read Mr. Dickens and His Carol last Christmas and the competition between him and other popular authors spurred him to write A Christmas Carol. His publishers pressured him to write something that outperformed his competition.

Bend Over and I’ll Show You ~ Neighbors to Lovers

I honestly couldn’t think of anything for this prompt. A Witch’s Guide to Fake Dating a Demon was the closest thing I found and he’s more of a forced roommate.

Merry Christmas, Kiss His Ass ~ Workplace Troubles

The Afterlife of Holly Chase is A Christmas Carol retelling where a young girl was visited by three ghosts and given the chance to change her life, and she didn’t. Now she’s stuck working for Project Scrooge for the rest of her afterlife.

Clark Freaks Out ~ Boss Troubles

I hate to use A Christmas Carol again but it’s perfect for this prompt as well. Imagine working for Ebenezer Scrooge.

Shitter Was Full ~ A Character Stirring Up Trouble

I didn’t love The Devil All the Time at all, and ninety percent of the story could have been avoided if the characters had any dang sense. It got on my nerves after a while, hahaha.

So that’s the National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation Book Tag. I really enjoyed this one. It made me dig way back into my library to find my answers. If you want to play along, I tag you. Until then I hope you have a great Christmas Eve and a Merry Christmas!
