Life in the Wildwood: AeroGarden Update

It’s time for an AeroGarden update. I’ve been super pleased with the results! Let’s talk about my thoughts so far.

Here’s my first post if you want to check that out.

April 9

I planted my AeroGarden April 9th with the Gourmet Herb Pods that came with the kit. Most of the herbs had a germination estimate of 6-21 days. That’s just an estimated range but it was pretty spot on.

April 20

I watched my pods almost daily. A neat thing about the AeroGarden is that I actually got to watch the seed sprout. Normally, in the ground you wouldn’t be able to see that process. Everything sprouted pretty quickly but it took some time for the seedlings to grow above the pod covering. I noticed the dill and the basil on April 20th.

April 25

The dill and the basil grew so quickly after they popped up over the tab. And on the 25th I noticed the mint popping up. The Thai basil and parsley had sprouted too they just hadn’t popped up yet.

May 3

The growth on May 3rd was unreal. Everything is growing so quickly.

May 6

And this is the last picture I have. It’s grown so much even since the sixth. I’m actually going to have to start pruning soon. I also still have intentions of transplanting them I just haven’t started that process yet. The one thing I have noted is that the Thai basil still hasn’t popped up over the pod label. It’s sprouted and doing well it just hasn’t gotten tall yet. After I prune the rest, I will be able to lower the light back down. That should help. And another note, my thyme never sprouted. I’m not super upset because I have a ton of thyme outside.

Overall, I’ve really enjoyed my experience with the AeroGarden so far. I’m excited to transplant these and start trying to grow lettuce after. I will probably make plans to do that very soon. This is a bit different from my normal content, but I enjoy doing the AeroGarden update. I hope you enjoy them as well.
