My 2026 Reading Goals

Happy New Year! Here’s hoping that 2026 is the best year yet. As always, I like to take today and think about the goals I have for the year. I will always be a planner. It’s the Capricorn in me. So, let’s talk about my 2026 reading goals.

Read 50 Books

I set my goal last year really low because I was a new mom and I wasn’t in a great place with reading in general. I met that goal comfortably. Now that I feel like I’m in a good routine as a mom I would like to actually challenge myself a little this year. I want to read 50 books. That still might be a little low but some of the books on my tbr are chunks.

Read from My Shelf

I’m pretty sure this is a goal I set every year and I fail miserably. I’m a mood reader at heart. But this year I am dedicated to reading from my shelf.

Complete Series

I’m great at starting series. I’m really bad at finishing them. When I was writing my Series I Started in 2025 post, I realized I wanted to make them a priority. So, I’ve picked out the series I don’t want to finish and made a list of the ones that I do want to finish. That helps to narrow down the clutter in my brain.

Read Classics

I’ve discovered I really love to read classics and I want to focus on that. I’ve picked out eight classics that I want to read this year.

  1. Pride and Prejudice
  2. Northanger Abbey
  3. The Tenant of Wildfell Hall
  4. Villette
  5. The Woman in White
  6. Oliver Twist
  7. The Call of Cthulu
  8. A Study in Scarlet

Read Brandon Sanderson Secret Projects

Lastly, I want to finish Brandon Sanderson’s Secret Projects. I’ve read Tress of the Emerald Sea and that’s it, so I’ve got to get busy on those.

So those are my 2026 reading goals. I’d love to chat in the comments. Are you a goal maker or are you more go with the flow?

  1. Reading Pride and Prejudice is on my classics TBR for this year too although it is a reread for me. Good luck with all of your goals and hope that you manage to keep reading as well as looking after your young baby.

  2. congrats on your goals! I’m also trying to dip into classics (for me that means reading atleast one haha), I’d also like to complete more series. I’m still on the fence on whether to make a post with my goals because somehow my reads more recently are more bc of mood than anything, but I’ll probably try to come up with a few. We actually have quite a few similar ones! Happy 2026 🤩🎊🎊
